The precautions for installing valve type lightning arresters are as follows:
(1) The installation of valve type lightning arresters should be easy for inspection and should be installed vertically without tilting. The leads should be firmly connected, and the wiring terminals on the lightning arrester should not be subjected to force
(2) The porcelain sleeve of the valve type lightning arrester should be free of cracks, well sealed, and pass the preventive test
(3) The installation position of valve type lightning arrester should be as close as possible to the protected equipment. The maximum electrical distance between the lightning arrester and the 3-10kV transformer should not exceed 15m for single incoming lines, 23m for double incoming lines, and 27m for triple incoming lines that frequently operate during thunderstorm seasons. If the distance is greater than the above, a valve type lightning arrester should be added to the busbar. (4) The valve type lightning arrester can be installed within the protection range of the drop type fuse to prevent its normal operation or failure after lightning strikes, which may affect the normal operation of the power system
(5) The cross-sectional area of the lead wire of the valve type lightning arrester should not be less than: copper wire -16rmn2; Aluminum wire with an area of 25mm2
(6) The grounding lead of the valve type lightning arrester and the metal casing of the protected equipment should be reliably connected to the grounding grid. The grounding resistance of the grounding device of a single valve type lightning arrester on the line is not greater than 5 Ω
